Cyclist suffers life threatening injuries after crash near Fordingbridge

A 23 year old cyclist suffered serious, life threatening injuries after a crash on the A338 at Fordingbridge.

The incident happened late on Sunday (10th October) and forced the road to the closed until Monday morning (11th).

It involved a cyclist and a Renault Clio just north of the town.

The cyclist was taken to Southampton General Hospital, while two people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

A 52 year old man from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of careless driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs.

Meanwhile, a 55-year-old man from Shepton Mallet has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving, being drunk and disorderly and assaulting a police officer.

They are currently in police custody.
