People in the county have been implored to plan carefully when ordering parcels over the weekend into Cyber Monday.

In Salisbury, more than 250,000 parcels have gone through the network in just three weeks for Black Friday, that figure in Swindon, is just over 500,000 parcels, illustrating the pressure that Black Friday and festive shopping put on local streets.

From neighbours sharing delivery updates to people going out of their way to take in parcels.

Cyber Monday is expected to be just as busy this year.

Retail expert, Jane Hawkes said: "It's a busy time of year. Yeah, it's firmly established now as one of the busiest, if not the busiest shopping we can shopping days of the year, looking at other times like Boxing Day, busy, Super Saturday, Cyber Monday.

"So we do have a lot of busyness and the sales stretch over the Black Friday period.

"The UK is set to handle more than 900 million parcels this year. It delivered a record 3.8 million parcels on the Monday after Black Friday last year, and this year we're looking at reaching over 44 million across the October - December peak."

According to new research: nearly four in ten Brits (39%) say their community pulls together more during the holiday delivery season, with 34% stepping up as parcel helpers and 70% planning to keep up or increase that support. One in three (33%) have got to know neighbours through taking in a parcel, while one in six (17%) now rely on a regular “Parcel Pal”.

Jane also gave some advice as to how residents can ensure they get their deliveries efficiently.

She said: "Making sure Courier instructions are clear. If you download the Courier apps, make sure you set delivery preferences.

"Interestingly, 45% of every customers haven't done so. So you know that's important to actually specify where you want your what you want with your tap into your parcels."

"Nominate a trusted neighbour or a safe place for deliveries. Just be aware that if something goes wrong and you have nominated a safe place or or a safe person so to speak, then your order could still be deemed as received."
