A bubble tea shop opens in Salisbury today (Fri 22nd Oct)
The city's CUPP day has come!
A new kind of tea shop will open in Salisbury's city centre today - Friday 22 October 2021.
CUPP, the bubble tea brand, is opening a new store on Silver Street at 2pm.
Known as the 'drink that you chew' it's become a phenomenon in the Uk.
What is bubble tea?
The drink, a new craze in the UK, consists of tea, milk and chewy tapioca balls.
Originally bubble tea was a term given to drinks that consisted of tea, milk and chewy tapioca pearls which are shaken together to form a bubbly foam on top of the drink.
These days, bubble tea is given to a wide variety of fruity and milk infused teas that are produced in this way.
The origins of Bubble Tea come from Taiwan in the 1980s and have become increasingly popular across the world.
You drink through an oversized straw to slurp up your tea and then chew tapioca or pop the bubbles.
Founder, Lee Peacock said:
“We’ve seen an incredible response to the opening of our new stores across the country, with customers queuing around the block for a taste of our Bubble Teas. We are excited to be opening in Salisbury which will introduce Bubble Tea to new and existing customers.”
“We can’t wait to open our new store in the beautiful city of Salisbury. The feedback on our social media about the news has been brilliant. We’re really looking forward to offering our teas to new, excited customers.”
Lee launched CUPP in Bristol in 2012 before expanding to other cities in 2019. Setting themselves apart from other Bubble Tea operators, CUPP focus on being a premium Bubble Tea brand with an emphasis on being healthy by using real fruit and quality ingredients.
