Covid-19: Three patients die at Salisbury District Hospital
Our thoughts are with their families and friends
Salisbury District Hospital has had three further patients pass away there, having tested positive for Covid-19.
It takes the total number of fatalities there to 267 since the pandemic began.
In a statement, the NHS Foundation Trust has said:
"Sadly, we can confirm that three patients who had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital and had tested positive for COVID-19 have died.
"Two male patients in their 80s died on Sunday 27th March and one female patient in her 60s died on Monday 28th March. All three had underlying health conditions.
"267 patients in total have now passed away.
"Our thoughts and condolences are with her family and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time."
It's also been confirmed that the number of people being treated at our hospital with Covid-19 is rising significantly.
There are currently 72 Covid positive patients there - up from 51 last Thursday (24th March).
The hospital is asking us to remain cautious about the illness:
"Although the government has lifted restrictions, the hospital’s COVID-19 measures remain in place until further notice. We remind visitors to the hospital that they must wear a face mask when in the hospital and have a negative lateral flow test before entering the buildings. They should not visit if they have any symptoms of COVID-19.
"In addition, with the current levels of COVID-19 still in our community, people should take up the invitation for a COVID-19 vaccine when offered. It is never too late to get a first vaccine.”
