Officers stopped a vehicle on the eastbound carriageway in the early hours of last Thursday (18th Feb) following concerns about the manner in which it was being driven

They found three men from two different households who were driving back from a trip from their homes in Ilford in east London to visit a friend in Devon.

Wiltshire Police say the trio had no reasonable excuse for being outside their homes and were found to have breached the lockdown restrictions.

The men, aged 22, 36 and 64, were all issued with £200 fines.

FLOUTING LOCKDOWN RULES

In total Wiltshire Police issued 45 fines in the seven days to Sunday (21st February).

They include two Salisbury men, age 18 and 19, caught away from their home without a reasonable excuse in separate incidents.

25 Fixed Penalty Notices were issued for people at three separate house parties in Swindon over the weekend.

Again all were issued with £200 fines.

Deputy Chief Constable Paul Mills said whilst Prime Minister has set out a cautious "roadmap" out of lockdown and this is good news for all our communities, it is however very important we all still need to comply with the rules.

"I know the news of further house parties held over the weekend will be incredibly frustrating for the vast majority of people adhering to the rules, who are missing their friends and family.

"But please be reassured that on behalf of communities, we will not tolerating these blatant breaches and will quickly move to enforcement in these incidences where people selfishly believe the law does not apply to them."
