Salisbury District Hospital have confirmed that one patient has passed away there, having tested positive for Covid-19.

This means the total number of fatalities is at 238 since the pandemic began.

There have been 3 deaths so far this week.

A spokesperson for Salisbury District Hospital said:

“Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital and had tested positive for COVID-19 died yesterday, Wednesday 2nd February. The patient was in her 80s and had underlying health conditions. 238 patients in total have now passed away.

Our thoughts and condolences are with her family and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time.

There are currently 25 COVID-19 positive patients being treated at the hospital.

We would ask the public to remain cautious and to take appropriate precautions to avoid transmission. We remind visitors to the hospital that they must wear a face mask when in the hospital and have a negative lateral flow test before entering the buildings. In addition, people should take up the invitation for a COVID-19 vaccine when offered. It is never too late to get a first vaccine.”
