COVID-19: One death at Salisbury District Hospital

Salisbury District Hospital have confirmed that another patient has passed away there, having tested positive for Covid-19.

This brings the total number of fatalities to 211 since the pandemic began.

It is the first fatality there in over a week.

A spokesperson for Salisbury District Hospital said:

"Sadly, we can confirm that a further patient who had tested positive for COVID-19 and had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital has died. 211 patients in total have now passed away.

The patient was in his 70s and had underlying health conditions. Our thoughts and condolences are with the patient’s family and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time."

The Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust has also confirmed that today (Monday 29th March) they currently have five positive in-patients.

LATEST CASES

In the seven days to 23rd March, there have been 147 positive cases in Wiltshire.

That's a increase of 20 on the previous week.

This means the county's rolling rate per 100,000 population is at 29.4.

The national average is 56.
