COVID-19: Deaths up to 85 at Salisbury District Hospital

It's been confirmed another female patient has passed away at Salisbury District Hospital, having tested positive for Covid-19.

It takes the total number of deaths there since the pandemic began to 85.

A statement from the Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust says:

"Sadly a total of 85 patients who had tested positive for COVID-19 have died at Salisbury District Hospital.

A women in her nineties, with pre-existing health conditions, died on 03 January 2021.

Our thoughts and condolences are with the patient’s family and loved ones at this difficult time”.

The number of positive patients at the hospital has also increased in the last week.

As of 8:15am today (Monday 4th January) there are 71 patients, up 27 from the same time last week.

CURRENT CASE NUMBERS

In the 7 days to the 29th of December, there were 1,115 confirmed cases of the virus in Wiltshire - the first time that figure has gone above 1,000.

That's an increase of 355 from the previous week.

That gives the local authority a rolling seven day case rate per 100,000 people of 223.0.

The national average is 476.9.
