COVID-19 death toll rising at Salisbury District Hospital

Four more patients have died amid spread of new strain of the virus

Salisbury District Hospital have confirmed that a further four patients, who had been cared for at the Odstock Road site, have died after testing positive for coronavirus.

All passed away on 8th January 2021.

The patients were a man and a woman both in their 80s, and another man and woman in their 90s.

All had underlying health conditions.

A spokesperson for Salisbury District Hospital said:

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the patients families and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time."

The total number of patients that have died at Salisbury District Hospital after receiving a COVID-19 positive test result is now 93.

The number of daily deaths in the UK reached 1,325 on Friday, a new record high. That's being partly blamed on the impact of household mixing over Christmas, and the new, more contagious variant of coronavirus.
