Covid-19: Another death recorded at Salisbury District Hospital

The number of patients who have tested positive is also on the rise

Another person has died at Salisbury District Hospital, having tested positive for Covid-19.

It takes the total number of deaths there since the pandemic began to 86, while the number of positive patients currently at the hospital has risen to 84.

A statement from the Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust says:

"As of 08.15am today, there are 84 in patients who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Sadly a total of 86 patients who had tested positive for COVID-19 have died at Salisbury District Hospital.

A man in his eighties, with pre-existing health conditions, died on 04 January 2021.

Our thoughts and condolences are with the patient's family and loved ones at this difficult time".

CURRENT CASE NUMBERS

In the 7 days to the 1st of January, there were 1,421 confirmed cases of the virus in Wiltshire, an increase of 669 on the previous week.

That gives the local authority a rolling seven day case rate per 100,000 people of 284.2.

The national average is 579.8.
