Corsham 'courtyard' of homes approved by Wiltshire Council
The go-ahead comes despite a number of objections
Seven new homes on the edge of Corsham have been approved by Wiltshire Council.
Applicants Longacre submitted the proposal for Park Lane to the council in March 2024 and have now had the decision through.
Over 20 objection letters were written in response to the project, which will see the homes constructed in a “characterful” courtyard.
Revisions after the plans were first presented reduced the number of dwellings from eight to seven.
Despite this, Corsham Town Council maintained its objection to the development, claiming that the density was “still too high”.
According to the case officer report, the proposed access “essentially functions as an extension to the existing cul-de-sac”.
The development will consist of five four-bedroom homes and two three-bedroom homes, all two-storey in form.
A pair of dwellings will be semi-detached, each with a single dormer window facing the street.
The case officer noted: “The proposed dwellings show a coherent form of design in terms of style, materials and detailing.
“In particular, they are all proposed to be of stone elevation with parapet eaves at the gable ends, recon stone slate roof material and stone window surrounds.”
The images submitted with the plans show a “pedestrian-friendly” inner courtyard.
