New Forest District Council has contacted all 38 Town and Parish Councils within the district to advise they will each receive financial support from the coronavirus emergency grant fund.

The money will assist with the work they are doing with their communities.

A total of £107,308 is being allocated in recognition of the 'additional expenditure pressures' faced by all local authorities as a direct consequence of the pandemic.

In a letter to town and parish councils, Leader of NFDC, Cllr Barry Rickman, said:

"I appreciate that the Covid-19 pandemic is continuing to put pressure on all aspects of our community, both residents and businesses. We are committed to doing all we can to support our community through this time of crisis."

The funding has not been ring-fenced, and can be used entirely at the discretion of the town and parish councils. That will enable each authority to consider the individual circumstances in their areas.
