A patriotic Postmaster from Coombe Bissett will be waving his flag and ringing the bells to mark the Coronation this weekend.

Charles May has decorated the village Post Office and shop ready for the celebrations.

A special bell peal will be held at St Michael and Angels, with Postmaster Charles among those honouring his namesake.

He's been based at the Coombe Bissett site since 2008 and throughout that time, has regularly rung the bells at the nearby church.

That's included peals for major royal events like Jubilee celebrations and to mark the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth II, when the bells were muffled for the sombre occasion.

Charles May said:

“I normally put up bunting and flags at the Post Office for special Royal occasions including last year’s Platinum Jubilee for the Queen. Now we have extra decorations for the Coronation showing our new King Charles III. Coombe Bissett is only a small village but we like to show our support for the Royal family.

“It was a very sad day when the Queen died. It was an honour to follow Royal protocol to ring the bells to mark her death and it will be a privilege to peal the bells on Coronation Day to proclaim the crowning of our new King.”
