Two open spaces in Salisbury have been successful in the 'It’s Your Neighbourhood' competition which is part of South & South East in Bloom's programme run on behalf of the RHS Britain in Bloom Campaigns.

Both areas are looked after by local volunteers with the support of Salisbury City Council

Lime Kiln Down on Odstock Road, which was entered by the Lime Kiln Down Volunteers and supported by Salisbury Wildlife Group, achieved the best result possible with a Level 5 ‘Outstanding’ rating, which in the first year of entering was a great achievement.

Harnham Slope which is looked after by the Friends of Harnham Slope also entered for the first time and was also successful achieving a Level 4 ‘Thriving’ rating.

In a statement the City Council praised the work of locals:

"Neither result would have been possible without the hard work and dedication of local volunteer groups who have worked tirelessly not only to enter this competition but also to create areas beneficial to wildlife and for visitors to enjoy."

These and other volunteer groups working in Salisbury are always on the lookout for new volunteers, to find out mor or to register your interest email parks@salisburycitycouncil.gov.uk
