Two community groups in Salisbury supported by Wiltshire PCC
The funding is coming from the PCC's Community Action Fund
Two community groups in Salisbury have received support from Wiltshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) through the Community Action Fund.
Salisbury Women’s Refuge and Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust have been handed £5,000 and £2,000 respectively.
Applications for funding were considered by the Office of the PCC, with a panel making their choices earlier this month with assistance from Wiltshire Community Foundation, which helped co-ordinate the grants.
PCC Philip Wilkinson said he was pleased to see so many applications had been made by community groups across the county.
“I’m looking forward to seeing these projects develop and visiting as many of the groups as I can to see their great work in action and how they are actively contributing to their communities and making Wiltshire safer.”
The PCC added that a second round of funding is on the way with applications still open.
Salisbury Women’s Refuge is part of a network of women’s refuges across the UK. They provide accommodation for 12 women and 16 children who are victims of domestic violence.
The grant will go towards core costs in helping keep the accommodation available.
Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust works with Wiltshire Police, providing a home security service for the older and more vulnerable members of our community.
The funding will aid a scheme to provide alert bands/GPS trackers to improve safety for people living with dementia.
