Amesbury community gardening project in need of land
The group are looking for an allotment space to grow vegetables and flowers
Residents from Kings Gate and Archers Gate have come together to create a gardening community project.
The community spirit is there the group are lacking in space.
They are currently growing flowers and vegetables from home but are looking for a patch of land or an allotment space to run the project from.
Nicole Abela is a Community Development officer at Abri, she is helping the residents source some land.
"Residents are really wanting to bring community back to the forefront and build a team of gardeners, volunteers and helpers.
"It has to be a space where they can grow fresh produce but be able to then share it back to the community.
"We would like a space that all residents can visit and make it their own so be able to pot plants and flower beds and grow vegetables."
Some of the residents that are involved have been growing tomatoes, peppers and cauliflowers from home.
The children have also been getting involved growing their runner beans and broad beans from their window sills.
The garden will promote wellbeing and health living as well providing an education to the children about where food comes from and where its grown.
Nicole says the pandemic has highlighted how important community spirit is.
"It's lovely when you have people that really look out for one another especially when the community really come together off their own backs.
"The project will also get everyone working together, it doesn't matter what skills you have, what background you're from, anyone is welcome."
