Wiltshire Council has received a nomination for a local pub to be listed as an asset of community value.

The Barleycorn Inn is located in Collingbourne Kingston, a village 10 miles outside Marlborough.

Collingbourne Kingston Parish Council is concerned for the future of the pub and hope that the asset of community value status could save it.

According to them, recent changes in tenants mean the pub is at risk.

The nomination says:

“Concern remains as to what will happen to this amenity if the new tenant who has no track record in the licensing trade is unable to make a going concern of the premises.

“The Barleycorn is the only village amenity, there being no shop or other public house.

“Loss of this amenity would have an enormous impact on the community of Collingbourne Kingston, and its hamlets Aughton and Brunton.”
