Cold-callers offering insulation NOT linked to Wiltshire Council

Wiltshire Trading Standards are warning us not to accept their offers

We’re being warned that cold-callers offering insulation in Wilton are not associated with Wiltshire Council.

Wiltshire Trading Standards (WTS) have told us to be aware of calls, which offer free surveys of lifts before using high-pressure sales tactics to install spray foam insulation.

These ‘surveyors’ are actually salespeople providing misleading information about the suitability of current loft insulation and government funding.

The cold-callers will tell us our loft may be damp or mouldy and requires spray foam insulation that costs thousands of pounds.

WTS believe these traders are simply attempting to exploit the cost-of-living crisis by targeting those of us aiming to make our homes more energy efficient.

Adding spray foam insulation can affect the mortgage ability of a home, as the work is generally not completed to the necessary standard.

The callers claim to be working on behalf of a local authority, in this case Wiltshire Council, saying an inspection is required to ensure eligibility for a government grant.

We’re being urged to have an impartial assessment carried out before agreeing to any work being done.
