Wiltshire Council's housing team say they won't ever cold call tenants

Council home tenants in Wiltshire are being told to be vigilant of cold callers pretending to be Wiltshire Council's housing team.

Reports of the scams surfaced in Salisbury this morning (Monday 20th January), with people being told they are paying too much for their gas and electricity.

The callers are said to have then asked for financial and personal information.

Wiltshire Council insists they will not cold call and ask for such information over the phone.

In a social media post, Wiltshire Council said:

"If you receive a call from us and you are unsure of its authenticity, you can always ask to call them back. Use the Housing telephone number 0300 456 0117 and select the option of the department you need to speak to."
