Salisbury's Christmas Tree Festival brings festive boost to two charities

The popular decorated tree festival at St Thomas's Church made a welcome return last month attracting nearly 9,000 visitors and raising vital money for two local charities.

The event held over six days saw 90 trees adorned with decorations created by local organisations, companies, schools and individuals.

Among those taking part this year were St Martin’s C of E Primary School with a theme of 'Christmas Around the World' celebrating different traditions whilst Wilton's Mens Shed entry created a tree from recycled wood.

The Rifles Berkshire and Wiltshire Museum swapped baubles for medals whilst there was also an usual tree made of books!

Visitors were entertained by local choirs, ensembles and individual musicians.

whilst the event was free to enter donations could be left in aid of two specially chosen charities, which this year were The Children’s Society and Wessex Stoma Support Group

More than £13,000 was raised this year which was split between the chosen charities and the church itself.
