Longleat Safari Park has had a Christmas makeover.

Among the decorations is a 20 metre tall tree covered in more than 88 thousand lights and fitted with it's very own snow-making machine - it also plays Christmas music!

It took a team of 15 people 4 days to install the tree, which will be part of the attraction's 'Christmas at Longleat' launch this weekend (6th November).

Staff use the cherry picker to decorate the highest sections of the tree, which plays a selection of traditional Christmas music and carols and features a series of spectacular animated light shows.

The final touches are put on the tree

Longleat’s Steve Mytton said:

“With so many lights, so much cable and decorations to put up it has been a massive undertaking, but to see the tree in place and working is amazing.

“It manages to combine a host of Christmas traditions into one package; a seasonal tree, twinkling lights as well as carols, festive songs and even snow! There can’t be too many other experiences like it”

Running from 6th November 2021 to 3rd January 2022, ‘Christmas at Longleat’ is a brand new family event featuring Santa Trains, festive storytelling with flying owls, live Christmas shows, a synchronised light and sound display on the front of Longleat House, an illuminated Love Labyrinth and a host of other Christmas surprises.

The traditional winter lantern event, The Festival of Light, will return in 2022.

Park bosses revealed earlier this year it wasn't possible to stage the popular event this year due to logistics involved with their partners in China as a result of the pandemic.
