WATCH: Firefighters battle barn blaze near Cholderton

People in the Amesbury area were asked to keep windows closed because of smoke

A barn fire near Cholderton is still burning this morning (Monday 30th August) after people living in and around Amesbury were told to keep windows closed overnight.

Lots of smoke was produced by the blaze, which was first reported to Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue at 6.56pm last night.

The property just off the A303 is now burning out under the supervision of firefighters, who are also checking the surrounding area and neighbouring barns for any hot spots.

At the peak of the incident, 2 water carriers and 4 pumps from Amesbury, Salisbury, Andover and Pewsey were in attendance.

1 pump and one water carrier remain at the scene (as of 7am, 30th August), with 2 jets making sure the area is safe.
