A Chippenham man has been sentenced to four weeks in prison for burglary and shoplifting offences.

Dean Cochrane, 44, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Salisbury Magistrates' Court on August 19 after pleading guilty to one count of burglary and two counts of shoplifting.

The offences took place at Poundland, Sainsbury's, and One Stop in Chippenham this month.

Cochrane was also ordered to pay £136 in compensation.

Inspector Pete Foster said: “We know that Dean Cochrane's behaviour has had a huge impact on businesses, shop workers, and the wider community.

“Our message is clear – shoplifting and this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated in Chippenham.

“We take all reports of shoplifting extremely seriously, and I hope this result reassures the local community that we will do all we can to put offenders before the courts.”
