Plans for 150 new homes near a sports ground in Chippenham will go before a Wiltshire Council planning committee tomorrow (Thursday 23rd January).

The development would be located to the south of Stanley Lane, between Abbeyfield School and Stanley Park Sports Ground.

Developers David Wilson Homes have said the project would result in “an inclusive mix of new energy-efficient homes”, but the plans have generated over 50 letters of objection.

Chippenham Town Council and Bremhill Parish Council also informed Wiltshire Council of their objections.

Cllrs Clare Cape and Ashley O’Neill have called for the plans to go before the strategic planning committee at Trowbridge County Hall.

David Wilson Homes has argued the site is a “sustainable location for development” providing the opportunity to create “an attractive, sustainable and integrated addition to Chippenham”.

The developer also said it had good transport links to the town centre, but concerns have been raised by local residents about the increase in traffic this could cause in the area.

The case officer report recommends that the committee approve the plans, but councillors will cast their own votes during Thursday's meeting.
