Child suffers life-threatening injuries in Downton crash

The A338 south of Charlton all Saints will remain closed into this evening

A child has suffered life-threatening injuries, with three other people hurt, in a three vehicle crash on the A338 near Downton.

The collision happened at 7.30am today (Wednesday 26th July) south of Charlton all Saints.

A Vauxhall Astra going southbound collided with a Ford Transit going in the opposite direction, and then colliding with a Toyota Corolla.

A woman in her 20s, driving the Vauxhall, suffered serious injuries, while a child passenger in the back has life-threatening injuries.

Another child passenger suffered minor injuries.

The Toyota driver also suffered serious injuries, with the Ford driver having no reported injuries.

No arrests have been made.

Wiltshire Police is investigating what happened and is asking witnesses to contact them.

The road remains closed at the moment, with drivers asked to find alternative routes.
