Charter Fair returns to Salisbury
Roll up, Roll up one of the city's popular traditions is back
Salisbury's Charter Fair returns today ( Sunday 17 October) until Wednesday (20 October) in the city's Market Place and Guildhall Square.
The popular event dates back to 1227 - seven years after the building of Salisbury Cathedral began when King Henry III granted a Charter to the Bishop of Salisbury to hold a fair on the third Monday in October.
Last year's event was cancelled due to the pandemic.
The Mayor, Councillor Caroline Corbin will officially open the Charter Fair at 2pm alongside fellow Salisbury City Councillors and members of the Showmen’s Guild Western Section.
Rides include the carousel, dodgems and waltzer.
Nearly all rides will cost just £2 a go until 6pm with juvenile rides costing £2 at all times although some prices may rise after 6pm.
The Fair will open from 2pm until 9pm on Sunday, and then 11am until 10pm Monday through to Wednesday.
