There's a consultation process underway by Wiltshire Council to see what we think about restrictions for turns in and out of Meerut Road.

A 'traffic regulation order' is being sought by the authority to alter the junction with the A338.

The angle of the road, which runs between the greens and towards the Tidworth Camp entrances, makes it difficult for turning and joining the busy Pennings Road.

The map on the Traffic Regulation Order shows which turns could be banned

WHAT IS THE ORDER ASKING FOR?

It's looking to ban right hand turns from Meerut Road onto Pennings Road and left hand turns from Pennings Road into Meerut Road.

That would prevent traffic crossing the A338, with drivers encouraged to use the Station Road crossroads, or use the roundabout at Ordnance Road instead.

Wiltshire Council also say it would 'avoid danger' for pedestrians crossing at Meerut Road too.

Traffic lights are also planned for the junction, with a 'controlled pedestrian crossing'.

WHAT HAPPENS NOW?

We can put in our comments about the changes to Wiltshire Council - with a consultation ongoing until 14th September.
