Centre Parcs has temporarily closed its five UK sites including Longleat Forest near Warminster until at least the 7th of January.

The holiday firm said the decision was made with "a heavy heart" but stressed "it is clear that the threat of the virus with the new variant is now at an extremely delicate stage."

Experts say the new strain, which is easier to pass on, has been found across the UK including Wiltshire.

The company says it didn't want to encourage customers to go against the latest Government advice to avoid non-essential travel outside of local areas.

Booked guests are being contacted with details on how to cancel activities and restaurant reservations and will be offered the chance to reschedule with a discount or cancel with a full refund.

People due to arrive from the 8th of January onwards are being urged to check government advice.

Longleat Forest only reopened earlier this month having had to close its doors due to the national restrictions.
