CCTV images have been released as Salisbury police investigate a theft from a city centre supermarket.

A man went into Sainsbury's in The Maltings at around 5.45pm on Friday 24th February and picked up five bottles of whisky from the shelves.

He put them into his backpack, and was then approached by a staff member.

The man became abusive towards them, with a shopper also trying to intervene.

He gave two of the bottles back and threatened to spit at the member of the public, before leaving with three bottles still inside his backpack.

Police say they're keen to speak to the man pictured in these images.
