Fordingbridge Town Council is taking action after an increase in vandalism on its property.

Writing its Facebook page it said five windows have been smashed at the Pavilion building, newly planted trees have been damaged and earlier this week bins next to the skate park were also damaged.

Worryingly glass bottles were found "smashed and planted into the ground to potentially cause injury."

There have also been repeots of cruelty to the wildlife that inhabit the park and the river.

Incidents of theft have also been during renovation works to the Pavilion.

The Town Council is now installing cameras in a bid to deter people from causing issues;

"With the apparent rise in anti social behaviour and criminal offences at our Recreation Ground we are now installing CCTV cameras. We hope this will help to serve as a deterrent to the small minority of individuals who perpetrate acts of this nature. We will share CCTV evidence with the Police to aid a conviction, if this is appropriate."

Anyone who witnesses and incidents at the Recreation Ground that involve the damage to property, person or wildlife is urged to report it to Hampshire Police on 101.
