Casa Fina to leave Salisbury high street
Store owner Susi Mason is retiring
After 40 years on Salisbury's high street, Casa Fina is entering it's final few months in the city.
Store Owner Susi Mason has made the decision to retire, which will see the independent store leave the city centre.
The store celebrated its 40th anniversary last October.
Susi told Greatest Hits Radio that the choice to retire was a tough one to come to.
"It was quite difficult, but we reached our 40th anniversary last October and that just seemed like such a milestone. There's no way that I was going to stay in business till my 50th anniversary.
"So it seemed like a really good time, a really good note on which to finish."
It's estimated that the store will leave the high street in the early summer months, before a new business takes the space near the Cathedral.
"We're very hopeful that another small independent business will be coming in its space.
"There are talks already being held with the landlords, so I'm really hopeful that within a week or two there'll be somebody new opening up and that will be really good news for Salisbury."
Susi says she'll miss the people of Salisbury most, with regular customers coming in for a chat, but she's not going to be too far detached from the city.
"I'm probably going to look for something part time, maybe some voluntary work. I'm just really keeping all my options open because I think that's the best way and then we'll see, see what happens. But I'll be busy. I'm always busy, so I'm not too worried about that."
Susi posted the announcement of her retirement on social media, and had this message to people who'd got in touch afterwards.
"I'd like to thank everybody that sent messages in after my social media posts and it's lovely that people are reminiscing about 40 years of knowing Casa Fina and I'm looking forward to hearing more of those stories.
"It's lovely, it sort of takes you back in time."
