Cars stopped as police patrol South Salisbury last night

Salisbury police have been carrying out patrols after a number of burglaries and damage caused to the area

The Local Neighbourhood Team have been carrying out patrols in Whiteparish, Landford, Winterslow, Pitton, Farley, Alderbury, Downton Odstock, Nunton and Coombe Bissett.

Last night the team were joined by officers from the Rural Crime Team, CID, Specialist Operations and Dorset & Hampshire officers.

A number of vehicles were stopped and the following actions were taken:

  • One car was seized for having no insurance.
  • One vehicles was stop checked regarding concerns about the carriage of scrap metal - investigations are continuing into this matter.
  • One car was stopped, issued with a ticket for no front number plate. Three people in the vehicle were given warnings for being out during a lockdown and another was given a ticket for breaching COVID regulations.
  • One van was dealt with for having a young child incorrectly restrained in the vehicle, putting them at risk.
  • An investigation into some dangerous driving has commenced following the attempted stop of a vehicle.

A Spokesperson from the force said:

"We want to reiterate the importance of reporting crimes to help us focus our patrols in the right areas.

"We will continue to conduct these kind of operations in the area to deter crime and protect our communities."
