Wiltshire Police have issued a warning to car owners not to leave valuables on display in their vehicles this weekend.

Officers spent the day with some of the Forestry England rangers yesterday, checking as many New Forest car parks as possible, giving out crime prevention advice and leaflets.

Last year a number of handbags stolen from a car park in Fritham were dumped in the bushes after everything valuable was removed.

A Spokesperson from the force said:

"We will be visiting as many New forest car parks as we can again today reminding people that thieves target parked cars with anything valuable on display inside them.

"Take everything with you and don't 'hide' anything in the boot as you never know who is watching you."
