The black Volvo was stopped by officers around 4am yesterday (25th January) in Tidworth Garrison after showing as having no tax .

Checks revealed the MOT had also expired.

Wiltshire Police say 'the driver admitted he knew both of these had expired.'

The vehicle was also found to have two bald tyres.

The car was seized and the driver reported to DVLA.

In a post on social media the force urged drivers to keep their vehicle in roadworthy condition.

"Especially with the weather being as icy as it is, driving around with bald tyres and tyres that have the cord exposed and under- inflated pose a massive risk to the public. Please ensure that you are checking your vehicle over before you drive it."

Another driver was also issued with a traffic offence report for having a bald tyre.

Officers say there was no tread to measure on it!
