A car's been seized by police in Alderbury, after the driver was caught without a licence or insurance.

The vehicle was spotted by Fordingbridge officers, working across the Hampshire border into Wiltshire on Tuesday afternoon (16th June).

The driver tried to avoid police and enter an address.

As well as the car being seized, the driver's also been issued with a £300 fine and 6 points on their licence.

They'll also have to pay recovery costs of £150 and £20 per day to release their vehicle, but proof of insurance will be needed.

Fordingbridge Police say they're working closely with Wiltshire officers in the Alderbury area, since the police station in the village closed a number of years ago.

They've asked for our help in a social media post, to try and prevent rural crimes:

"Even though the Police Station at Alderbury is now closed, Hampshire and Wiltshire police forces work together as one team to ensure effective targeting of those who decide to ignore the law to protect rural communities.

"If you know someone driving illegally call your local Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101 in confidence, or alternatively phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 to make the New Forest and Avon Valley areas safer places for all."
