Contractors working on the Salisbury River Park Project have lifted a car out of the Avon in The Maltings.

Kier staff used a crane to remove the Vauxhall Corsa, close to the public toilets for the Central Car Park.

The car ended up in the water on January 14th, but the river levels were too high for it to be safely taken out.

Kier have posted on their social media to say the water's now dropped to a level where they could take action 'to avoid further delays' to the River Park project.

The Army have helped with the operation, and will now safely dispose of the vehicle.

A 36 year old man had been charged with drink driving in connection with the original incident.

Kenroy Baptiste, of Bulford Camp, has pleaded not guilty and will appear before Salisbury Magistrates in May.
