We could have to pay more to use Wiltshire Council operated car parks.

The local authority is looking at increasing the fee by 10p an hour as part of its budget plans for the next financial year.

It would be the first time car parking charges have increased in four years.

Uncer the proposals there could be charges for blue badge holders too.

Leader of the Council, Richard Clewer, says they're planning to introduce payments on a Sunday across the board as well.

It's been free to park on a Sunday since 2018, with the previous cost in Salisbury £1.90 for all day.

Wiltshire Council say they're having to plug a budget deficit of more than £27 million over the next financial year, which works out as 7% of the authority's entire budget.

Other plans include a 1.99% increase on council tax and 1% on the adult social care levy, the maximum rise for both.

We're told no final decisions on the budget have been made yet, with the proposals due to be discussed at a Full Council meeting on February 15th.
