Two lorries and car crash on A303

One person rescued after serious collision between Chicklade and Wylye

Emergency services have pulled one person from the wreckage of a crash on the A303 between Chicklade and Wylye.

Two HGV lorries and a Vauxhall Corsa collided on the notorious stretch of road around 7pm last night (Thursday 11 Feb). The carriageway was also blocked for more than 4 hours.

One person was 'extracated' by emergency services, and two others managed to get themselves out after the smash.

FOUR FIRE CREWS

Fire crews from Tisbury, Warminster, Shaftesbury, and Blandford were sent to the incident, as well as Police the the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police told Greatest Hits Radio Salisbury:

"We were called to reports of a collision involving two Heavy Goods Vehicle and one car, a Vauxhall Corsa, on the westbound carriageway of the A303, at Tisbury, just before 7pm last night. The westbound carriageway was closed from the A36 Deptford Junction to the A350 Warminster junction while the incident was dealt with."

"The two HGV drivers were uninjured in the collision and were able to leave their vehicles. The driver of the Corsa, a woman in her 20s from Devon, was mechanically trapped. Two passengers were also uninjured and one able to leave the car by themselves. Injuries sustained by the driver were not believed to be life threatening or changing and she was taken to hospital, as a precaution, by land ambulance."

No arrests were made and the road reopened just after 11.30pm after the vehicles were recovered and the road cleared of debris.
