Plans for 17 homes in Calne deferred over sewage concerns
Wiltshire Council says it wants extra technical information about sewage connections
A planning application to build 17 houses in Calne has been deferred over sewage concerns.
At Wiltshire Council’s northern area planning committee meeting in Chippenham on Wednesday (August 6), members considered the design of the new development off James Avenue in Regent’s Park, Calne.
However, a decision on the matter was deferred to get additional technical information relating to Wessex Water sewage connections.
Calne Town Council had expressed concerns over sewage management in the area, as well as flood mitigation measures.
Wessex Water had raised no objections to the application.
In the application, Swindon-based Hills Homes explains its vision for the new development – how it will be laid out, and what the two, three, and four bed houses will look like.
The scheme, which was first proposed in October 2024, includes three two-bed and two three-bed affordable homes.
“The overall vision for the site is to provide a high quality and distinctive development, which complements as is in-keeping with the surrounding new development of Regents Park,” said Hills.
“There will be a range of housing to meet the needs of the area, whilst respecting and enhancing the site’s environmental assets.
“The housing will be integrated within the landscape and will create a distinctive sense of place.”
