Avon Valley Churches spread a little love to elderly in Fordingbridge on Valentine's Day
Cakes and cards delivered to three care homes
Thanks to Avon Valley Churches and local bakery The Cottage Loaf there was an extra special Valentine treat for residents in care homes in Fordingbridge yesterday.
Hundreds of cupcakes and cards were delivered to Fordingbridge Care Home, Allenbrook and Glynn Court Residential Home.
The cakes were funded by AVC's charity the Avon Valley Partnership Youth and Community Trust along with what's described as "some very generous private donations."
Avon Valley Churches say the cakes were "gratefully received with huge smiles and thanks from the care staff at each home!"
TREATS FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN
Many more cakes will be collected from The Cottage Loaf this week by children and their families in the area as a gift from us as a half term treat to let people know we are thinking of them.
Those eligible have been sent a QR code via their school.
Youth, Children and Families Development Worker for the Avon Valley Churches, Jo Heath, said:
"Even though we are in a third lockdown, we are still reminding ourselves and others about how important it is to feel connected and cared for."
Avon Valley Churches have been dong their bit to ensure children feel connected with their friends with special assemblies going live into local schools like Breamore Primary.
In the October half term and at Christmas hundreds of special bags with crafts were handed out to local children to help keep them busy.
Meanwhile a network of dedicated pastoral care teams from the parishes of Fordingbridge, Hyde, Breamore, Hale and Woodgreen are making weekly and often daily telephone calls to support those who are alone, elderly or need specific help.
"Please do continue to let us know how we can support you and all those in our communities during these difficult times. We can do so much more than pray for you in so many cases."
