A new £1.35 million grants scheme to encourage businesses in Wiltshire to improve and expand has been launched.

With local enterprises still recovering from the pandemic, the Invest in Wiltshire scheme gives businesses a chance to grow, create jobs and boost the green economy.

Wiltshire Council Leader, Richard Clewer, says it’s a “wonderful” opportunity for growth by improving premises, and investing in tools or equipment.

Making up the available £1.35 is £350,000 through the Governments UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and £750k from the Rural Prosperity Fund.

How can the money be used?

Businesses receiving grants must use the funding in specific ways.

It can be used improve productivity with new equipment, machinery or digital infrastructure. Another way it can be spent is to upgrade premises and workspaces.

In their applications, businesses will need to show they will create new, better paid, or more skilled jobs.

Another critical element the grants must go towards is decarbonising and becoming more energy efficient.

A webinar for people to learn more about Invest in Wiltshire is being held on 11th July at 5pm.

Applications for grants are open and the deadline is Friday 22nd September 2023.
