Time restrictions for using concessionary bus passes will come into force on Monday to conicide with the schools and colleges returning.

It means anyone with a pass will only be able to use it after 9.30am on weekdays and at any time at weekends.

Cllr Bridget Wayman, Cabinet Member for Transport at Wiltshire Council said:

"This offer was only ever in place until such time as schools opened up fully to receive all pupils"

"Since 1 February Wiltshire concessionary bus pass holders have been able to travel free of charge on buses at any time of day in order to assist Wiltshire residents to access vaccination centres by bus. Given the positive local vaccination uptake, we hope that this temporary offer helped older residents to get to their vaccination appointments and get protected from COVID-19. "

The local authority says reinstating the bus pass restrictions will help ensure there is enough capacity on buses at peak times for students and so that that social distancing can be managed effectively.

Bus operators have been notified of this change.

Wiltshire Council also says if anyone is struggling to get to get to their vaccination appointment and has no other options available to them they should call our Wiltshire Wellbeing Hub on 0300 003 4576 or email wellbeinghub@wiltshire.gov.uk who may be able to help.

The same changes are being introduced in Hampshire.
