Body recovered from Wiltshire river

A body has been recovered from a river in Wiltshire.

Police carried out searches around the River Avon in Bradford on Avon on Friday evening, after concerns for the welfare of a man who was swimming in the area.

Formal identification hasn't taken place yet, but his family have been told.

In a statement, Wiltshire Police told us: "We responded to concerns for the welfare of a man who was swimming in the River Avon in Bradford on Avon on Friday evening (27/06).

"Following a search of the river, we sadly recovered a body.

"While formal identification has not yet taken place, his family have been informed. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time."
