A property has been completely destroyed in a double house fire in Bishopstone.

The fire broke out at two homes in Stanley Close this morning and fire crews from Salisbury, Poole, Tisbury, Fordingbridge and Shaftesbury were called to the scene at 12:47.

Crews are likely to be there for some time, damping down and making the areas safe.

A Spokesperson from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue service said:

"One of the two properties has been destroyed by fire, the other has had the roof collapse in and there is water and smoke damage to the ground floor.

"The occupants are all safe, and volunteers from the the British Red Cross emergency response team are now assisting both households.

"The cause of the fire is not yet known.

"The investigation is ongoing and further work will be done once it is safe to do so."

There is a warning for locals to keep their doors and windows closed as a precaution.

A post on Facebook by The White Hart pub found on the corner of Stanley Close is reporting that the homes are occupied by families who have potentially lost everything.
