Salisbury City Council's spent £30,000 on the new facility, at the Bishopdown Recreation Ground.

They enlisted the help of one of the country's top concrete skate ramp contractors, Clark and Kent, to carry out the work over the last four weeks.

The ramp, on the corner of Bishopdown Road and Barrington Road, is a classic halfpipe design, with a 'graduated transition' for those who are still honing their skating skills.

There's also a higher section for those who are more confident to take on bigger tricks.

The old skate park was more than 10 years old and has always been a popular addition to the Bishopdown Rec, so the new ramp needed to be finished quickly

Salisbury City Council say the design's been chosen to 'blend in with the green space' around it, by including grass banks either side.

That's aimed at 'making the structure more natural and pleasing to the eye'.

The Mayor of Salisbury, Cllr John Walsh said:

"What a fantastic effort by the Parks Team and Clark and Kent Contractors for removing the old skate ramp and installing a new one in the period of just one month. The facility will continue to be a great space for the local community to socialise and exercise for many more years to come".
