The Bishop of Salisbury is holding his first annual fete today (Sunday 4th September).

It's become a tradition for the city's Bishop to hold a fundraising family event, with Right Reverend Stephen Lake carrying that on.

This year there's a new location - the grounds of the Cathedral School, with the event being held between 2.00pm and 5.00pm.

The fete's being held in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral School, in The Close

Proceeds from the event go to the Salisbury Sudan Medical Link, which provides vital medicines and training healthcare workers in Sudan and South Sudan.

The area's population suffers from high levels of malaria, pneumonia and other water-related diseases.

Last year's event brought in ÂŁ9,000 for the cause.

Activities on the day include stalls, games, tea and cakes, a tombola and raffle, along with music from the Amesbury Town Band and Navy Larks Choir.

Camels cancelled

One of the major attractions of past Bishop's Fetes has been an appearance from Lady Chichester's famous camels.

Sadly, they can't appear this time around, as one of the animals has died and the others are too anxious to take part.
