Bike repairs offered for free in Salisbury city centre
Local groups are helping to keep riders safe this half term
A free bike repair event's being brought back to Salisbury, after the success of similar support offered last year.
The City Council's invited local groups COGS and RISE:61 along to help riders keep their bicycles in good condition and provide some advice.
Children's bikes will be repaired or maintained between 10.30am and 3.30pm on Wednesday (15th February) in the Market Place.
The event's being held during the half term holiday to make sure as many families can get involved as possible.
We can book a free slot, which covers parts up to the value of £15 as well, through an online booking form.
Manager of the RISE:61 Bike Hub, Simon Bower, said:
“We love helping people of all ages get out and about on their bikes and we’re really happy to be involved in this bike repair event. We had a great time being part of the previous event last year and it was wonderful seeing so many people happily ride off on newly repaired bikes.”
COGS – the Cycling Opportunities Group Salisbury - have been long-time supporters of cyclists' rights and active lifestyles in the city.
Salisbury City Councillor Alan Bayliss, part of the COGS group himself, also rolled his sleeves up to help last year and said:
“It was hugely rewarding to see the children’s beaming smiles once their bikes had been repaired and were rideable again. The freedom, joy and independence that a bike gives is fantastic and I’d like to add my thanks to the team from COGS and Rise61 for giving up their time.”
