Spaces still available for Alabaré Big Sleep
The BIG Sleep is being held at Salisbury Cathedral
Homelessness charity Alabaré are holding their 15th “Big Sleep” at Salisbury Cathedral next Friday, and spaces to join the event are still available.
In a bid to raise money for the Somewhere to Go project, local people are asked to sleep on the cloisters of the City Cathedral.
The Somewhere to Go project provides drop-in support and advice to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Alabaré events manager Rebecca Mullen said: “We are delighted that so many people have signed up already to take part, but we really want to see this, our anniversary event, fill the magnificent Cloisters with fabulous fundraisers!
“The Big Sleep is such a powerful event to be part of, and we really encourage everyone, young and more mature, first timers and those who have taken part before, to come along and experience a night sleeping on the cold, hard floor.”
The current cost of living crisis is not limited to homeowners, or those who rent, but it also has an impact on the physical and mental wellbeing of those without a home, or on the edge of being homeless.
