Broad Chalke named among Best Places to Live in South-West
The village was also named on the list last year
Rural village Broad Chalke has been named one of the best places to live in the South-West, according to The Sunday Times Best Places to Live 2023 guide.
The 11th guide features more entries than ever, with expert judges visiting all the locations.
The judges assessed various factors including schools, transport, broadband speeds, culture, access to green spaces and the health of the high street.
We spoke to people who live in the village. One woman said: “It’s very quiet, the people are really lovely, it’s got a lovely community feel and a fantastic pub which is under new management.”
Tony Patel, who owns the Chalke Valley Stores, which also houses the community hub, said: “Broad Chalke is a very friendly place to live, it’s got a really good community spirit, everyone’s helpful and as soon as arrive, you are welcomed.”
A parent spoke of the redevelopment of the local playground, which she described as a really “exciting” project, adding that Broad Chalke is an “amazing” village.
Among the other places to be named was Wiltshire’s Marlborough.
