Two Bath rugby stars have helped inspire the next generation of rugby talent at a tournament held at Salisbury RFC.

Juan Schoeman and Jacques du Plessis joined over 700 boys and girls from the South West who were competing for the chance to be at June's Gallagher Premiership final.

The players were competing in the grassroots Defender Premiership Rugby Cup, an event held by Bath Rugby's grassroots team, and featured 28 teams from Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset.

The South African players were on hand to congratulate the winners from Chew Valley RFC and Oldfield RFC.

Abigail Dicks, Grassroots Operations Coordinator at Bath Rugby, said: “Huge congratulations to the winning teams who can now look forward to a day out at Twickenham Stadium for the Gallagher Premiership final in June.

“The Defender Premiership Rugby Cup is a great way to inspire the next generation of grassroots players and everyone played their part in making the competition such a successful event.”
